Hi Satoru,
I am curating an abstract of yours (A249) from the 16th International
Congress of Developmental Biology (published in Dev. Biol. 186(2)) for
FlyBase in which you discuss a new gene '#098'.
As this is a new gene I was hoping you could provide a few more details
than the abstract gave, namely:
is this a temporary gene symbol and if so have you decided upon another
symbol yet?
do you know the location (genetic or cytological) of the gene?
and any further details you would like to give me!
Many thanks,
Eleanor Whitfield

Dear Dr. Eleanor Whitfield,
I am a postdoc in Dr. Kobayashi's lab. '#098' is a temporary name. We
have renamed the gene as 'indora'. The location of indora is 42A. Indora
transcript was identified by a differential display screening. We now start
genetics on the locus to reveal the function in germ line development.
Sincerely yours,
Masanori Mukai

Hi Masanori,
Thanks for your reply.
One question:
Do you have a short 3 or 4 letter symbol for the gene indora or will this
represent the name and symbol?
Thanks,
Eleanor Whitfield

Dear Dr. Eleanor Whitfield
'indora' is the gene name and we have a symbol 'idr' for the gene 'indora'.
'indora' is japaneses god's name.
Thanks,
Masanori Mukai
