DNA polymerase Rev1 is one of several translesion synthesis (TLS) polymerases that act to promote replication through DNA lesions that would otherwise stall the replicative polymerases. It is highly specific for incorporating a C opposite template G. Notably, it can also perform non-catalytic functions, serving as a scaffolding protein for the assembly of multiprotein TLS complexes.
