The P{CaSpeR} element mediates sister chromatid exchange in the R(1)2-P{CaSpeR}SL-17C chromosome. Adults carrying the R(1)2-P{CaSpeR}SL-17C chromosome along with transposase show higher death rates than adults that have no transposase.
