A substantial fraction of MRG15Δ/MRG15Δ animals that contain maternally deposited but lack zygotically expressed MRG15 protein eclose from the pupal case and they exhibit mild HOX loss-of-function phenotypes in the adult epidermis as their only detectable morphological defect compared to controls. Many of them die shortly after eclosion. Better survival rates are observed in MRG15Δ/Df(3R)BSC741 animals.
Majority of MRG15Δ/Df(3R)BSC741 animals that contain maternally deposited but lack zygotically expressed MRG15 protein eclose from the pupal case and are fertile.
MRG15Δ/Df(3R)BSC741 animals that lack both zygotically expressed and maternally deposited MRG15 protein exhibit homeotic transformations as pharate adults and majority of them fail to eclose from the pupal case compared to controls.
