UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
The expression of sovHMC04875 under the control of either Scer\GAL4NP1624, Scer\GAL4C587 or Scer\GAL4da.G32 induces an ovarian tumor phenotype, in which germaria are often filled with germline cells with dot spectrosomes and the follicle cells encroached anteriorly. In the condition of Scer\GAL4C587-driven expression, egg chambers have either too many oocytes or no oocyte; the egg chambers with more than one oocyte also bear more than 16 germ cells, indicating egg chamber fusion.
Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4VP16.nos.UTR permits the production of all morphological stages of oogenesis, which appear phenotypically normal; however, the resulting eggs do not develop.
