Expression of ITPUAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.Switch.PT in adults fed with RU486 leads to an increased proportion of body fluids, water intake and propensity to start drinking; reduced survival under desiccation or under osmotic stress; and a decrease in the volume of consumed food, defecation rate and size of feces when compared to controls.

Flies expressing ITPScer\UAS.cHa under the control of either Scer\GAL4tim.Scer\UAS or Scer\GAL4tim.PE show barely any morning or evening activity bouts under 12 hour light: 12 hour dark conditions, and are almost completely arrhythmic under constant darkness conditions.

Expression of ITPScer\UAS.cHa under the control of any one of Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf, Scer\GAL4per.PK, Scer\GAL4Clk.2341, Scer\GAL4cry.PE, Scer\GAL4elav.PLu or Scer\GAL4386Y has no effect on rhythmicity or period length under constant darkness conditions.

Flies co-expressing ITPGD3825 and PdfGD299 under the control of Scer\GAL4tim.Scer\UAS show significantly altered sleep profiles compared to wild type. Total nighttime sleep is decreased, total daytime sleep is decreased, average number of sleep bouts per day is increased, and average sleep bout duration is decreased.
