UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
Expressing dywHMC04428 under the control of Scer\GAL4per.PK significantly increases daytime sleep levels in both males and females under two different rearing temperatures compared to controls, with no effect on nighttime sleep. The same phenotype is observed in females reared at two different temperatures when expression is under the control of Scer\GAL4tim.UAS or Scer\GAL4cry.PZ.
Males expressing dywHMC04428 under the control of Scer\GAL4tim.UAS, Scer\GAL4cry.PZ or Scer\GAL4dimm-929 exhibit significantly increased daytime sleep levels compared to controls. Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf, Scer\GAL4Mai179, Scer\GAL4GMR18H11, Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, Scer\GAL4cv-c-C5, Scer\GAL4Tab2-201Y or Scer\GAL4elav-C155 has no effect.
Females expressing dywHMC04428 under the control of Scer\GAL4P2.4.Pdf exhibit significantly increased daytime sleep levels compared to controls. Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR18H11 or Scer\GAL4GMR.PF has no effect.
