Expression of ERRmiRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4CG13917-BG01278 or Scer\GAL4c729 (but not Scer\GAL4tj.PU, Scer\GAL4c825, Scer\GAL4sbb-BG01610, Scer\GAL4bam.PU, Scer\GAL4prd.RG1, Scer\GAL4BG02820a, Scer\GAL4nos.PU or Scer\GAL4c855) significantly decreases male fertility (number of progeny produced by wild-type females mated to the knock-down males). Scer\GAL4CG13917-BG01278 driven expression of ERRmiRNA.Scer\UAS results in testicular deformity (underdeveloped testicular lobes and seminal vesicles) in adult males (although the frequency of the phenotype is rather low - around 20%). On the ultrastructural level, the males show several morphological defects: disorganization of the sperm bundles, decreased size of the mitochondrial derivatives as well as disruption of the axoneme structure in the sperm flagella.

Expression using Scer\GAL4ey-OK107 does not produce a phenotype.
