UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
Adults constitutively expressing Eaat2HMS01998 under the control of either Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI, Scer\GAL4repo.PU, Scer\GAL4GMR56C01 or Scer\GAL4Mz709, but not Scer\GAL4elav.PU, Scer\GAL4alrm.PD or Scer\GAL4NP6293, sleep significantly more than controls only during daytime, and undergo significantly longer sleep bouts than controls during both daytime and nighttime, although the number of sleep bouts is unaffected; flies were as active as controls while awake. Adulthood-only expression of Eaat2HMS01998 under the combined control of Scer\GAL4repo.PU and Gal80[ts] also leads to flies sleeping significantly more than controls only during daytime.
