UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a DsRed(Unk) fluorescent protein. A genomic fragment containing the mir-210 pre-miRNA hairpin has been inserted into the DsRed(Unk) 3'UTR.
Expression of mir-210UAS.DsRed(Unk) under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU does not cause retinal degeneration or affect receptor potential (measured by electroretinogram) in 10 d old adults, compared to controls; an additional rhabdomere is found in some ommatidia, compared to controls.
Expression of mir-210Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 results in spoon shaped wings. Wing veins are often thicker than normal.
Expression of mir-210Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP under the control of Scer\GAL4sd-SG29.1 results in slight curved wings. Interruptions in the wing margin are sometimes seen.
Expression of mir-210Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 results in undergrowth of the L3-L4 intervein region.
mir-210UAS.DsRed(Unk) is not rescued by mir-210Δ/Scer\GAL4GMR.PU
mir-210UAS.DsRed(Unk)/Scer\GAL4GMR.PU partially rescues mir-210Δ
