Expression of Ten-mGS9267 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mz19 results in ectopic connections between olfactory receptor neuron (ORN) axons expressing Or47b and DA1, VA1d and DC3 projection neuron (PN) dendrites expressing Scer\GAL4Mz19 (these axons and dendrites do not overlap in wild type). In addition, the position of the Scer\GAL4Mz19-expressing PN dendrites is shifted compared to wild type (although this alone is not enough to cause the ectopic ORN axon-PN dendrite connections).
Clonal expression (using MARCM) of Ten-mGS9267 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mz19 in DA1 projection neurons, but not in VA1d/DC3 PNs, causes mismatching of the PN dendrites with Or47b-expressing ORNs and (to a lesser extent) with Or88a-expressing ORNs.
Expression of Ten-mGS9267 under the control of Scer\GAL4AM29 in ORNs does not result in ectopic connections between the Ncra\QFMz19.PH-expressing PN dendrites and the ORN axons.
Simultaneous expression of Ten-mGS9267 under the control of Scer\GAL4AM29 in ORNs and Ten-mNcra\QUAS.cHa under the control of Ncra\QFMz19.PH in PNs results in ectopic connections between the PN dendrites and the ORN axons.
Expression of Ten-mGS9267 under the control of Scer\GAL4l(3)H94-H94 results in a shift of bouton distribution at the muscle 6/7 neuromuscular junction: 81% of boutons synapse onto muscle 6 and only 19% synapse onto muscle 7 in the mutant larvae (compared to 60% and 40% respectively in wild-type larvae). This effect is abolished if the larvae also carry either Scer\GAL80elav.PSb or Scer\GAL80Mhc.PW.
