The indirect flight muscles of pupae carrying MhcEMB-9c11d in a Mhc10 background show apparent assembly defects such as abnormally shaped myofibrils with disrupted hexagonal filament packing, particularly at the periphery. The defects become progressively more severe during adulthood, such that by 1 week after eclosion the myofibrils are highly disorganised with thick and thin filaments scattered throughout the cytoplasm and disruption of the sarcomeres.
MhcEMB-9c11d does not rescue flight or jump ability in a Mhc10 background.
