Description

The Mhc cDNA sequence present in Mhc+memb has been replaced with a cDNA encoding the naturally occurring EMB-11d Mhc isoform. The construct expresses alternative exons 3a, 7a, 9b, 11d and 15b and lacks exon 18.

      The indirect flight muscles of pupae carrying MhcEMB-11d in a Mhc10 background assemble myofibrils properly and have normal hexagonal packing of thick and thin filaments. Sarcomeres have well-formed M- and Z-lines. 1 week old adults show degeneration of the indirect flight muscle myofibrils with disruption of the hexagonal packing of thick and thin filaments. Sarcomeres appear hypercontracted with disrupted M-lines.
