UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of a 500bp inverted repeat.
Flies expressing magNIG.5932R under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI display elevated levels of cholesterol and decreased levels of triacylglycerol (TAG) compared to controls. Wild type levels of TAG, but not cholesterol, are restored by raising flies on a diet supplemented with pancreatin (a mixture of pancreatic enzymes).
Flies expressing magNIG.5932R under the control of Scer\GAL4mex1.2.1 increased levels of both total cholesterol and cholesterol esters, whereas free cholesterol levels remain unchanged.
Flies expressing magNIG.5932R under the control of Scer\GAL4bab1-Agal4-5 display decreased levels of triacylglycerol (TAG) compared to controls, whereas total cholesterol levels are unaffected.
Expression of CG5932NIG.5932R with Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI results in significant reduction of whole animal triacylglycerol levels.
