A 2567 base pair fragment from the flanking non-coding or intronic region of Gycbeta100B is fused upstream of a Drosophila core synthetic promoter (DSCP) that is followed by sequence encoding a GAL4 driver.
Inhibition (using shi1.UAS at 33[o]C) of Scer\GAL4GMR12E03 cells in adults significantly reduces short term (5 min) aversive olfactory memory, but not its anaesthesia-resistant component, compared to controls; inhibition during testing significantly reduces medium term (3 h) aversive olfactory memory, including its anaesthesia-resistant component, compared to controls, with no effect on long term (24 h after massed training) memory; inhibition does not affect olfactory acuity, compared to controls.
Inhibition (using shi1.UAS at 33[o]C) of a subset of Scer\GAL4GMR12E03 cells in adults (restricted using Scer\GAL80Mef2.mb247) does not affect short term (5 min) aversive olfactory memory; inhibition during testing does not affect medium term (3 h) aversive olfactory memory, or its anaesthesia-resistant component, compared to controls.
