The expression of Opa1HMS00349 under the control of Scer\GAL4pnt-14-94 results in type II neuroblasts and daughter mature intermediate precursor cells in the larval brain with fragmented mitochondria. Type II neuroblasts and daughter mature intermediate precursor cells show decreased mitotic index. Mature intermediate precursor cells, ganglion mother cells and young neurons are decreased in number. Type II neuroblast lineages show decreased proliferation (increased S-phase) compared to controls.

The expression of Opa1HMS00349 under the control of Scer\GAL4wor.PU results in decreased number of neurons in the larval brain. Type II neuroblasts and neuroblast lineage show decreased mitotic index.

Expressing Opa1HMS00349 under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA leads to small and fragmented mitochondria in the early third instar larval fat body.

Expressing Opa1HMS00349 under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA leads to fragmented mitochondria in the third instar larval fat body (as assessed by MitoGFP).

Expression of Opa1HMS00349 leads to strong defects in mitochondrial fusion in the body wall cells of third instar larvae (with the Scer\GAL4Mef2.PU driver) as well as in the indirect flight muscles in adults (with the Scer\GAL4Mhc.PU driver) - the mitochondria are short and fragmented compared to controls.

Flies expressing Opa1HMS00349 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU do not exhibit any discernible eye phenotype, as compared to controls.

Co-expression of Hsap\UCP2Scer\UAS.cFa and Opa1HMS00349 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU does not result in a rough eye phenotype.

The presence of opa1-likeHMS00349 strongly enhances the reduced adult eye size phenotype found in Scer\GAL4hs.2sev->Mmus\Gria1Lc.Scer\UAS flies.
