Expression of cycDN.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4to.PD disrupts the metabolic clock and renders the flies more sensitive to starvation than control flies.
Glycogen levels are extremely low in flies in which cycDN.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4to.PD or Scer\GAL4yolk. Lipid storage is only slightly decreased in these flies.
Flies expressing cycDN.Scer\UAS in neurons, under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.Switch.PO that have been treated with RU486 are arrhythmic for locomotor activity in DD, indicating a disruption of neuronal clocks. These flies are more resistant to starvation than those that do not receive RU486 treatment. Glycogen levels are higher in the presence of RU486 in these flies.
