AvicGFP1.E.ppk drives expression in 4 clusters of neurons in the adult female genital tract: one cluster of 2 neurons in the lateral oviduct (with one neuron co-localising with ScerGAL4dsx.KI and the other with EcollexAfru.P1.T:HsimVP16) and three clusters in the uterus. An anterior one with 3 neurons (which also express ScerGAL4dsx.KI) and one more posterior with 7 neurons which co-express ScerGAL4dsx.KI, with 3 neurons of those also expressing EcollexAfru.P1.T:HsimVP16. The most posterior cluster in the uterus is composed of 5 neurons.
Signal is observed in the axonal terminal branches of of class IV dendritic arborizing (C4da) neurons in the ventral nerve cord as a ladder-like pattern with a longitudinal fascicle on each side and a commissural fascicle in every segment.
AvicGFPEGFP.ppk.1 is expresssed in 2-3 ScerGAL4fru.P1.D positive fruitless expressing neurons either side of the uterus.
In females, AvicGFP1.E.ppk drives expression in 2 neurons on each lateral oviduct and 15 neurons on each side of the uterus, organised in 3 clusters. Eight of these reproductive tract neurons labeled by AvicGFP1.E.ppk co-express ScerGAL4fru.P1.D. In males, AvicGFP1.E.ppk labels 7 neurons in the ejaculatory duct, with two of these co-expressing ScerGAL4fru.P1.D.
This reporter reproduces the expression of the ppk gene in Type IV dendritic aborising neurons. There is also a low level of expression in some Type III neurons.
