      so begins to be expressed in the optic lobe placode at embryonic stage 10 and continues to be expressed in the optic lobe and in all larval photoreceptor cells throughout the embryonic and larval stages.

      ScerGAL4so-7.GAL4 drives expression in the embryonic eye field, and later in the optic placodes, dorsal head epidermis, dorsal central and ventral posterior protocerebral neuroectoderm. Two neuroblast groups arise from the eye field Pc1/2 (Pc2 also know as Pcd12, Pcd16, Pcd17 and Pcd19) and Pp3 (also known as Ppd15, Ppd16, Ppd18 and Ppd20). Expression of ScerGAL4so-7.GAL4 is also detected in the dorsal procephalic subperineural glia and in the optic pioneer neurons. In the third instar larval brain expression is observed in the centro-posterior lateral, dorso-posterior and centro-anterior synaptic neuropil domains.
