The clonal expression of Diap1miRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU results in an increase in the number of autophagosomes, identified as fluorescent Atg8a puncta, in the gastric caecum cells of third instar larvae, as compared to controls.

Expression of thmiRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4CCAP.PP compromises metamorphic development of the offspring, producing retracted posterior cuticle, failure of head formation, and incomplete extension of imaginal wings and legs. Premature CCAP neuron cell death is seen in the third instar larval CNS.
