The expression of Dcp-1GD10729 under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 alone does not lead to obvious wing defects. Upon additional Dicer-2 expression (for a more efficient RNAi), wings become curled and opaque, which is indicative of growth inhibition and apoptosis during development, respectively.

Expression of Dcp-1GD10729 in the developing eye, under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF does not affect eye development.

Knockdown of Dcp-1 through expression of Dcp-1GD10729 in the fat bodies, under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 induces a higher level of autophagy in fed larvae, compared to wild-type. The level of autophagy is increased further upon starvation.

Adults expressing Dcp-1GD10729 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Expression of Dcp-1GD10729 enhances the rough eye phenotype and reduces the overall eye size in flies expressing AcnScer\UAS.cNa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.

Fed or starved larvae experiencing knockdown of both Dcp-1 and Acn (through expression of Dcp-1GD10729 and AcnKK111555 under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32), display wild-type levels of autophagy, indicating that the remaining protein after Acn knockdown is sufficient to support starvation-induced autophagy but not sufficient to drive elevated levels of basal autophagy in a fed Dcp-1 background.
