      In flies expressing Rab5a.fl.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF, the concentration of endogenous Rab5 is reduced. An increase in the size of the synaptic vesicles in the nerve terminals of these flies is observed. This suggests that Rab5 is essential for creating or maintaining a uniformly sized population of synaptic vesicles.
