eya2/eya4 and eya2/eya3 adults exhibit significantly higher number of ommatidia in the eye than eya2/eya54C2 adults.

Mosaic stage 10 egg chambers containing eya54C2 follicle cell clones contain either multiple clusters of migrating border cells or a single abnormally large border cell cluster. The extra border cell clusters that form contain extra polar cells. Ectopic polar cells are seen in early stage egg chambers and are found in many positions throughout the follicle epithelium in egg chambers containing mutant clones. eya54C2 clones in the head are show loss of eye tissue which is replaced by head cuticle containing orbital bristles. Mutant clones do not result in abnormalities in the legs or wings.
