Expression of Afra\UbxScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS in the thorax (at levels equivalent to those of endogenous Ubx protein in the abdomen) results in partial transformation of thoracic denticle belts to abdominal-like identities. The T1 beard is suppressed, head involution is disrupted and abdominal denticles form in the head segments. Formation of the Keilin's organs is suppressed in 15% of cases.
