The hsp70 promoter drives expression of the CycE isoform CycEII.
In 43% of hemisegments in heat shocked CycEhs.II embryos, the neuroblasts that give rise to RP2 neurons (neuroblast NB4-2 ?) divide to produce one RP2 or RP2 sib plus a new ganglion mother cell (ectopic neuroblast NB4-2 ?), which then divides again to produce one RP2 neuron and one RP2 sib.
CycEhs.II flies raised at 29oC have defective egg chambers with fewer or extra cystocyte divisions, fusion of egg chambers, abnormal polyploidy and apoptosis. In cases with very reduced germ cell numbers per cyst, the remaining cell exhibits enormous polyploidization.
1 hour after CycEhs.PR is expressed in third instar larval eye imaginal disc by heatshocking, G1 arrested cells in the anterior part of the morphogenetic furrow (MF) and cells in the post MF S phase region are induced into S phase. Cells in the posterior part of the MF remain arrested in G1. However 2 hours after induction all of the G1 arested cells within the MF are induced into S phase.
