In 50 out of 73 abdominal segments examined in NetA^BG02298/NetA^BG02298 third instar larvae, the LCh1 cap cell migrates ventrally instead of dorsally, followed by its neuron; the cap cell travels much farther ventrally towards the attachment site of the VChA organ close to the ventral midline. In 15 out of 73 mutant segments, the VChB cap cell does not reach its normal final destination (the LA cell).
