In embryos expressing da::twiScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4twi.PG the salivary glands often fail to invaginate. In approximately half of embryos of this genotype, one gland does invaginate into the embryo, but fails to progress past the turning point to migrate posteriorly.
When da::twiScer\UAS.cCa is driven by Scer\GAL4twi.PB in the mesoderm, the somatic musculature is greatly reduced, with the remaining muscles showing defects in patterning and size. Other mesodermal tissues, such as visceral muscle are initially unaffected, though mild defects in the later development of these tissues are found.
