Animals expressing HLHm3Scer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL432B show pupal lethality. Loss of notum microchaetae is seen. Flies expressing HLHm3Scer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 show complete loss of notum microchaetae and macrochaetae, except at the very anterior edge of the notum. Flies expressing HLHm3Scer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4455.2 show severe loss of scutellar bristles. Flies expressing HLHm3Scer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4h-1J3 show loss of notum macrochaetae.

Flies expressing one copy of HLHm3Scer\UAS.cLa under the control of one copy of Scer\GAL4h-H10 are phenotypically wild-type.
