Detailed Description

Egg chambers of homozygous females have impaired cytoplasm transport from nurse cell to oocyte. The egg chamber phenotype of cher1 homozygotes is less severe than that of cher1 homozygotes. Ring canal inner rims are formed, but not maintained in homozygous egg chambers. The plasma membranes of the nurse cells and oocytes are destabilised, often resulting in the transport of nurse cell nuclei into the oocyte in post-stage 10 egg chambers.

Transient ring canals assemble that degenerate by stage 4.
