Ectopic heat-shock induced expression of Mmus\Nos2hs.PK in the absence of any tissue damage inhibits eye disc growth in third instar larvae compared to age-matched controls.
Induced expression leads to hypersensitivity to 10% oxygen hypoxia, seen as a high proportion of larvae leaving the yeast in the second phase of behavioural response. Induction of Mmus\Nos2hs.PK increases the number and length of terminal branches in the tracheal system.
Heat induced expression at larval stages causes suppression of DNA synthesis and cell division. Heat induced expression within 1 hour after pupariation results in a reduction in the size of the limbs, distal segments of the legs are affected most frequently and to the greatest degree.
Mmus\Nos2hs.PK has abnormal size | third instar larval stage | temperature conditional phenotype, non-suppressible by Scer\GAL4elav.PU/Lgr3GL01056
Mmus\Nos2hs.PK has eye disc | third instar larval stage | temperature conditional phenotype, non-suppressible by Scer\GAL4elav.PU/Lgr3GL01056
The inhibition of eye disc growth (decreased size) in the absence of tissue damage in third instar larvae resulting from heat-shock induced ectopic expression of Mmus\Nos2hs.PK cannot be suppressed by Scer\GAL4elav.PU-driven expression of Lgr3GL01056.
Calcium independent form of nitric oxide synthase that is capable of efficient constitutive nitric oxide production.
