In the majority of inscScer\UAS.cKa, Scer\GAL4sca-P309 telophase pI cells (13/17), the spindle becomes asymmetric with an anterior bias with the distance from the cleavage furrow to the anterior centrosome being greater than that to the posterior centrosome. In inscScer\UAS.cKa, Scer\GAL4sca-P309 animals, the mitotic spindle reorients to align with the A/B axis in ventral epithelial cells of the neuroectoderm. The apical spindle arm is preferentially extended, as judged by the position of the centrosomes relative to the cleavage furrow, the spindle is also displaced toward the basal cortex (ratio of longer half of spindle arm: shorter half of spindle arm = 1.39 plus or minus 0.25, n = 9), and a larger apical daughter is produced.

When inscScer\UAS.cKa is driven by Scer\GAL4neur-P72, the polarity of the pI sensory organ precursor cell is reversed.

Scer\GAL4h-1J3 induced expression in ectodermal cells outside the procephalic neurogenic region (PNR) leads to the reorientation of the mitotic spindle.
