Homozygous embryos exhibit loss of some VL and LT muscles as well as a duplication of SBM muscle. Embryonic muscle loss is due to defects in early somatic differentiation. Severe abnormalities are observed in a subset of pericardial cells.
Fusion defects of myoblasts.
Dorsal vessel develops properly. Embryos exhibit muscle reduction in only one or two abdominal segments. Pleural and ventrolateral muscles shows distortions. Pattern formation of the cuticle is normal suggesting the observed muscle phenotype is not a consequence of epidermis defects. Peripheral nervous system is reduced, chordotonal organs are affected while the dorsal hair sensilla are unchanged. Ventral cord exhibits no gross defects.
Weak allele.
