Flies carrying Ubx^mABP have a strong Ubx^Cbx-1-like phenotype. Can almost completely rescue homeotic transformations of the haltere disc derivatives (dorsal T3a or T3p) caused by various Ubx mutations. Can also partially rescue the A1a to T3a transformation seen in Ubx¹/Ubx^bxd-1 flies. Can rescue Ubx¹ homozygotes from larval lethality to pupal stages. A small fraction of these animals survive to the end of pupation and secrete adult epidermis which is fully differentiated. Can completely rescue the "ppx" phenotype (T2p to T1p) of Ubx¹ homozygotes and Ubx¹/Ubx¹⁹⁵ transheterozygotes.

The minigene provides Ubx function in ps5 and ps6 of the embryonic epidermis, rescuing some of the most conspicuous aspects of the larval Ubx^- phenotype. Can rescue Ubx¹ homozygotes from larval lethality to late pupal stages.
