Proximal breakpoint hits esg.
Deficiency removing a small part of the upstream region.
Breakpoint of Df(2L)TE35D-2 near esg locus.
Heterozygotes with esgL2 are viable with reduced abdominal cuticle and bristles. Introduction of P{HS-esg.F} and multiple heat shocks increases the number of bristles.
Viable or semi-viable in combination with esg point mutants. Flies have held-out wings and deleted sternites/tergites and/or twisted legs. Exception is with esgL7, where flies phenotypically wild type. Abdominal histoblasts examined in heteroallelic combinations and found to have nuclei 3.4 fold times larger (revealed by Ecol\lacZ expression from esg05729 allele) and with 7-16 times as much DNA (DAPI fluorescence) as wild type histoblast nuclei.
