      Embryos, which are morphologically normal (with respect to CNS, PNS, motoneurons, muscles, head, mouthparts and denticle bands) and mobile nevertheless fail to hatch.

      Clonal analysis in the eye revealed no mutant phenotype, except in very large clones where the ommatidial array shows loose packing. Clonal analysis in the wing revealed weaker defects than for hypomorphic alleles. Neither double heterozygotes of LanA7-5/+ with mys8/+, nor LanA7-5/+ together with if1/if1 indicated interaction of the mutant phenotypes.
