      ry41/T(3;4)ryps1149 or ry41/In(3R)ryps11136 heterozygotes have ry- eye colour when reared on low levels of the xanthine dehydrogenase inhibitor HPP and wild-type eye colour on standard medium. They are purine sensitive.

      The frequency of gene conversion at the ry locus in ry41/ry5 flies is unaffected in females also homozygous for mei-9a, mei-9b or mei-218unspecified, or transheterozygous for mei-9a and mei-9b.
