Dp(2;Y)G44 males crossed to a stock carrying Nspl-1 produce sons that have straight wings or curly wings. Curly wings result from trisomy for the 44C--50B region: enhance the mutant effect of Nnd-0.
Wings have small notches at their apical ends in nearly all males, but only in 8% of homozygous females. Nnd-0/Df(1)N-8 flies lack considerable portions of the apical region of the wing and large portions of the costal vein and anterior wing margin, while in some cases portions of the posterior wing margin are also missing. The eyes are slightly roughened. Nnd-0/Nfa-1 is phenotypically normal, except in very rare cases (0.26%) where slight notches in the wing are seen.
The allele has not been separated from the inversion.
