Heterozygous bs2 mutant flies show a significant loss of visual orientation memory.

Transheterozygous bs2/bs1348 mutant flies show a significant loss of visual orientation memory.

Homozygous flies have ectopic wing vein tissue.

bs2 and bs2/In(2LR)Px4 mutants do not increase sleep after social enrichment.

Circadian rhythms are intact in bs2 mutants.

Homozygous bs2 mutant wings show ectopic wing vein tissue in the distal regions of the L3, L4 and most L5 veins.

Wings from bs2 heterozygotes are normal.

    Homozygotes have extra wing veins.

bs03267/bs2 is a viable combination that displays almost entirely wing vein tissue in the wing.

    Extra vein mutation.

More extreme allele than bs1. RK2.

    Additional Comments
    Genetic Interactions
    Statement
    Reference

Bap170hfl1/+ enhances the ectopic wing vein phenotype of bs2 homozygotes.

The ectopic wing vein phenotype observed in homozygous bs2 mutant wings is suppressed in animals doubly heterozygous for osa308 and brm2.

Overexpression of osaC819 by Scer\GAL4MD-638 enhances the ectopic veins observed in bs2 mutant animals.

bs2/+ suppresses the mutant wing phenotype caused by expression of LIMK1Scer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E (the % of wings with normal morphology at 18oC is increased from 9% to 81%).

The bs2 extra wing vein phenotype is enhanced by emc1/emc11. emc1 clones in bs2 wings differentiate as vein everywhere in the wing blade covering intervein regions as vein.

bs03267/bs2; rho9, vnM2/rhove-1, vn1 triple mutants show an almost wild type wing vein pattern.

Enhancement of rhohs.PSt ectopic vein phenotype and suppression of the rhove-1 loss of vein phenotype.

Enhances the wing blister phenotype of if3 flies.

    Comments

Expression of bsScer\UAS.cHa in ring neurons under the control of any of Scer\GAL4c105 (R1), Scer\GAL4EB1 (R2) or Scer\GAL4Aph-4-c232 (R3/R4d) rescues the visual orientation memory defects seen in heterozygous bs2 mutants. Expressing bsScer\UAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4ftz.ng (R4) in bs2 mutant flies leads to general locomotor and orientation defects so these flies could not be tested for visual orientation memory phenotype defects.

bs2/Df(2R)Px1 easily separable from +/Df(2R)Px1, especially at or below 19oC.

Wing phenotype caused by same mechanism as that of px.
