    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

Fertile when in combination with Dp(1;Y)BSYy+ or Dp(1;Y)y+mal126 and weakly fertile when in combination with Dp(1;Y)mal+.

Heterozygotes with Dp(1;Y)y+mal+ are very weakly fertile. Fertility is higher in combination with Dp(1;Y)y+mal126.

Macrochaetae only about two-thirds normal length, most conspicuous on posterior scutellar bristles; abdominal tergites 'etched' on sides, giving flies a 'side abnormal' effect. Males wild-type in presence of normal Y chromosome, due to Ybb.

Designation "bb5" attributed to Sturtevant. Phenotype variable, overlaps wild-type. What is now referred to as bb1 was derived from fifth finding of bb. First allele found was lost.
