Elevated frequencies of prophase associations between second and Y chromosomes occur in proportion to the region of homology between the second and Y chromosomes. Transposition heterozygotes exhibit preferential Y-2 segregation, also in proportion to the region of homology between the second and Y chromosomes. Thus males have a general homology pairing system despite their lack of recombination.
