Morphological changes present in the 1B region: continuous compaction, bands and interbands at euchromatin and heterochromatin junction fuse to form a block of chromatin, and discontinuous compaction, morphologically normal zones separate at least two zones of compaction.

Lethality is covered by Dp(1;2)w-ec but not by Dp(1;2)51b.

eyes, larval Malpighian tubes mottled; mottling more extreme at low temperature; heterozygous female Notch; nearly lethal Low temperature increases variegation of larval Malpighian tubules and also heterochromatic appearance of the transposed euchromatin (Hartmann-Goldstein, 1967). Cytological compaction of the Sgs-4 locus (3C11-12) enhanced at low temperature (17oC) and Sgs-4 protein and transcript reduced in translocation heterozygotes at this temperature (Kornher and Kauffman, 1986). Males usually lethal; survivors probably X/Y/Y. Cell lethal in X/0 tissue in gynandromorphs (Judd, 1953, D. I. S. 27: 95).
