Df(3R)Espl22/Df(3R)boss15; P{ry+,HLHm5+,m6+,mX+,HLHm7+=Ep} viable.
In Df(3R)P709/Df(3R)boss15 flies, extra scutellar and dorso-central bristles are often seen. In some cases microchaetae are more densely spaced as well. The Df(3R)Pr4/Df(3R)boss15 combination often results in about 40% of the expected embryos developing a neurogenic phenotype. About 50% of animals emerge as adult flies. They develop supernumerary macrochaetae on the scutellum, the central thorax and the sternopleurum and a higher density of microchaetae.
Homozygous embryos exhibit a moderate to extreme neurogenic phenotype: dorsal cuticular shield covers 50--75% embryo length. Neurogenic phenotype is due to deletion of gene(s) proximal to gro.
