An 8.2kb fragment covering the fwe gene locus, modified such that YFP is inserted downstream of the -RA transcript, GFP is tagged onto the C-terminal of -RB and mRFP(Unk) is inserted downstream of the -RC isoform.

fwe^{+8.2.RA.YFP.RB.GFP.RC.mRFP(Unk)} generates differentially tagged isoforms of fwe, allowing isoform-specific expression pattern analysis. GFP-tagged fwe-PC (fwe^Lose-A) is expressed in all retinal neurons from 24-46 hours APF. RFP-tagged fwe-PB (fwe^LoseB) is not expressed until 36 hours APF, in ommatidia at the periphery of the retina, where photoreceptor neurons are undergoing programmed cell death; this expression is maintained until 44 hours APF.
