Nuclear ribonuclease P (RNase P) is an essential endonuclease responsible for catalyzing 5' end maturation in precursor transfer RNAs (tRNAs) in the nucleus. It is a ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complex containing one conserved catalytic RNA subunit and a variable number of protein subunits - 8-10 in eukaryotes. (Adapted from PMID:27187488 and PMID:16998185.)
Notes on Group
Two homologues of Rpp14 (Rpp14a and Rpp14b) are present in D. melanogaster, located next to each other on chromosome 3R.
