Description
Description
Protein arginine methyltransferases catalyze the addition of one or two methyl groups to arginine. (Adapted from FBrf0174380 and FBrf0193526).
Notes on Group

PRMTs can be divided into two major categories: type I enzymes catalyze the formation of asymmetric dimethylarginine residues and type II enzymes catalyze formation of symmetric dimethylarginine residues. csul, Art7 and Art9, orthologous to the mammalian type II methyltransferases PRMT5, PMRT7 and PRMT9, respectively.
