The amount of cell delamination seen in the 'loser' cells when cell competition is induced in the pupal notum through generation of clones expressing fweScer\UAS.P\T.Lose-A.C.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4Scer\FRT.Act5C in wild type tissue correlates with the amount of surface the fweScer\UAS.P\T.Lose-A.C.T:Ivir\HA1-expressing loser cell shares with the wild type winners. The amount of shared surface does not affect delamination rates in wild type controls. The compactness of fweScer\UAS.P\T.Lose-A.C.T:Ivir\HA1 clones is unchanged compared with wild type clones in wild type tissue.

There is no increase in cell elimination at the anterior-posterior border compared with controls when fweScer\UAS.P\T.Lose-A.C.T:Ivir\HA1 is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.PU in the anterior compartment of the wing disc, due to high tension at the anterior-posterior boundary.

Expression of fweScer\UAS.P\T.Lose-A.C.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU in clones of cells in the wing imaginal disc induces apoptosis and reduces clone survival.
