UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Wild type females mated to males expressing Nep4KK104462 via Scer\GAL4tub.PU, using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B to suppress Scer\GAL4 function during development, lay a similar number of eggs as controls.
Wild type males mated to females expressing Nep4KK104462 via Scer\GAL4tub.PU, using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B to suppress Scer\GAL4 function during development, lay significantly fewer eggs than controls. The proportion of progeny that eclose from laid eggs (hatchability) is not affected.
Second instar larvae expressing Nep4KK104462 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.5xCD show a reduction in crawling speed compared to wild type. This appears to be predominantly due to a reduction in the number of muscle contractions.
Third instar larvae expressing Nep4KK104462 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.5xCD show some defects in body wall muscles at the ultrastructural level: some nuclei with dispersed chromatin and swollen mitochondria are seen.
