      Mosaic animals in which the head is homozygous for savshrp-5 (made using the "eyFLP" technique) have enlarged heads, but patterning of the head cuticle is unaffected. Spacing between individual photoreceptor clusters is significantly increased in homozygous clones in the eye disc compared to wild type. The ommatidial clusters contain the normal number of rhabdomeres in the correct trapezoidal arrangement.
