Scer\FRT-mediated recombination between the two progenitor insertions has deleted the sequence between them, resulting in a 14kb deletion.
FlyBase curator comment: the Df(2L)Scl12 deficiency partially removes the dicistronic transcript encoding the SclA and SclB open reading frames, however each open reading frame is completely deleted.
Df(2L)Scl12/Df(2L)Sclg6 adults show significantly more cardiac arrhythmicity compared to control flies.
Df(2L)Scl12/Df(2L)Sclg6 animals are viable and fertile. Cardiomyocytes and cardiac ventral longitudinal fibres show a regular arrangement of their sarcomeres in the mutant adults, comparable to those of wild type. No ultrastructural defects in sarcomeric structure or dyads (cellular structure where the plasma membrane is in close apposition to the sarcoplasmic reticulum membrane) are seen in the mutant indirect flight muscles.
Df(2L)Scl12/Df(2L)Sclg6 adults show significantly more cardiac arrhythmicity compared to control flies. Cardiac cells show irregular action potentials involving "double" and occasionally failed action potentials. During heart contraction, the Ca[2+] transients show significantly higher amplitudes and steeper decay than those of wild-type controls.
Homozygous lethal.
Heterozygous adults do not show any increase in cardiac arrhythmicity compared to wild type.
