Description
Description
Water channel proteins (WCPs) are integral membrane proteins with a central pore formed form two highly conserved hydrophobic regions, NPA boxes, which contain the signature Asp-Pro-Ala motif. All WCPs conduct water across the membrane. The aquaglyceroporins also allow the passage of other small molecules. (Adapted from PMID:22542572).
